'A fine possession: jewellery and identity', Powerhouse Museum.

The committee of the Australiana Society invite all members to a special curator-led viewing of the upcoming jewellery exhibition at the Powerhouse Museum. Join curator Eva Czernis-Ryl for a members-only tour of 'A FINE POSSESSION: JEWELLERY AND IDENTITY.'

The Powerhouse Museum presents its most ambitious jewellery exhibition ever staged, spanning millennia of jewellery history across continents and cultures. Jewellery can express our desires, fears and hopes. With over 700 pieces spanning time, place and culture, 'A fine possession' tells the stories of jewellery designed, made and worn in Australia and across the globe. A fine possession showcases jewels of desire made from a variety of traditional and avant-garde materials, while addressing the key them of 'our place in time' through a remarkable selection of jewellery collected in Australia.
